Quality blooms come from healthy plants, and healthy plants come from healthy soil.  Most of the work we do with our flowers revolves around soil preparation and soil growth.  Briar Marsh Blooms strives to foster a soil environment that is nutrient rich and teeming with life.  Our goal is to feed the soil and not just feed the plant. We believe that our soil microbiome is our number one contributor to plant health and life. One of the ways we do this is by not using manufactured synthetic fertilizers. Instead, we use lots of organics in our soil like cow, horse, and chicken manure, compost, wood ashes, fish meal, and basically anything else we can make compost out of like grass, leaves, woodchips, vegetables, and all plants we grow once they have exceeded useful life.  Another way we promote soil development and life is we utilize silage tarps, cover crops and crop rotation. Lastly, once we have an established bed, we subscribe to no till practices allowing the soil to build and develop naturally.  Over the life of this business, we hope to build soil that get better and better each year.
